Sketchpedition: Colorado/New Mexico 2013

Nature is good. 





Saw a young black bear close by on a slope.
They say a canine's sense of smell is about 1,000 to 10,000 times more sensitive than that of a human, and a bear's sense of smell is about 7 times as sensitive as that of a canine.


Some towns seemed like only 3 people were keeping them alive.

Boarded-up windows, collapsed roofs, bathtubs, rusty tractors, play sets...


Santa Fe is adobe.
The surrounding desert smells great after a storm.




Turkey Creek Trail, Weminuche Wilderness, CO:

















The trail snakes across a valley until it hits Turkey Creek Lake at about 11,300 feet.





































Animal Sightings:

  1. Mule Deer: Bucks & does: 7+
  2. Elk: Female: 1
  3. Moose: Female: 1
  4. Black Bear: Young, 4'-7' long: 1
  5. Coyotes: Multiple howls: ?
  6. Pika: 5+
  7. Marmot: 1
  8. Squirrels: 5,000,000!
  9. Chipmunks: 5,000,000+
  10. Grouse: 10+
  11. Humans: 7 (2 groups)
